On April 28, former WBA world light flyweight champion Yoko Gushiken, now 70, updated his YouTube channel "Next Challenge" to discuss the recent victory of Tenshin Nasukawa. On April 11, at the Ryogoku Kokugikan, Nasukawa, ranked second in the WBC world bantamweight division, achieved a TKO victory at the end of the ninth round against Juan Francisco Estrada, a former two-division world champion from Mexico, who was ranked first in the same division. Earlier this year, Nasukawa reunited with Yuichi Kasai, the president of GLOVES Gym, who had coached him during his kickboxing days. He also trained at his former kickboxing gym, TEPPEN GYM, every Tuesday and received guidance from his father, Hiroyuki Nasukawa. With a resolute determination, he stepped into the ring, describing it as a "crossroad in life" and a "do-or-die" moment. Gushiken acknowledged the changes made by Nasukawa's team, noting the intense spirit and dedication, particularly from Nasukawa's father.
Yoko Gushiken, born on June 26, 1955, in Ishigaki City, Okinawa Prefecture, won the national high school championship and debuted professionally in 1974. Known as the "Crested Serpent Eagle" of Ishigaki Island, he claimed the WBA world light flyweight title in 1976 and retired after his 1981 match, ending his career with a record of 24 fights, 23 wins (15 by KO), and 1 loss.
Tenshin Nasukawa, born on August 18, 1998, in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture, debuted in professional kickboxing at 15 in 2014 and participated in mixed martial arts with RIZIN in 2016. He won the RISE world featherweight title in 2018 and transitioned to professional boxing after his final kickboxing match against Takeru in 2022. His professional record stands at 9 boxing matches with 8 wins (3 by KO) and 1 loss, and 42 kickboxing matches with 42 wins (28 by KO).
