On April 29, the "Champions Road" professional boxing event, supported by Hochi Shimbun, will mark the debut of Tokuyama Gym, led by former WBC world super flyweight champion Masamori Tokuyama. The event will take place at the El Theater in Osaka. On April 28, the weigh-in was held in Osaka City, where gym members Naoki Sueyoshi, competing in the super flyweight category, and Seung-Hui Lee, in the super featherweight category, both successfully made weight for their respective matches in the Western Japan Rookie of the Year four-round bouts. Tokuyama, who will be in the corner during the matches, expressed his understanding of what boxers need from his own experience, emphasizing his role in providing positive support. He noted that both fighters are southpaws with a deep boxing style and expressed optimism about their performances, even though he hasn't instructed them to aim for knockouts. Sueyoshi, who will be the first to fight, debuted in April 2023 and has a professional record of two wins and two losses. He transferred to Tokuyama Gym in February, encouraged by his previous gym. He is determined to win by controlling the match with his left straight and right jab, following Tokuyama's philosophy of hitting without being hit. Lee, making his professional debut, had an amateur record of six wins and five losses during high school and university. After a seven-year hiatus, he passed the professional test in January, motivated by Tokuyama Gym's approval as a professional member last year. Lee is focused on avoiding unnecessary hits and achieving a positive result. Tokuyama retired in 2007 and opened Tokuyama Boxing Gym in Higashi-Osaka City in December 2024, with professional membership approved last year.
