On April 28th at 10:30 PM, WWS Channel will feature the "Smile Omusubi Project," a social contribution initiative by FamilyMart. As part of this project, FamilyMart held an omusubi presentation ceremony on April 21st at Nippon Women's University Nikaido High School. The project, which began in 2025, uses a portion of the sales from the "Big Omusubi" series featuring Shohei Ohtani's packaging to bring smiles to children. In the second round of the "Smile Omusubi Project Support Campaign," 17 schools from across the country were selected, including the dance club at Nippon Women's University Nikaido High School. The presentation ceremony was a surprise for the dance club. As the students practiced for an upcoming competition, their advisor, Ms. Ruka Asakura, read a message from Ohtani, filling the practice area with surprise and cheers. Following this, Daisuke Miyamoto, Deputy Director of FamilyMart's Tokyo Region 2, explained the project's purpose and presented a commemorative panel to the dance club's captain. The students beamed with joy as they received the omusubi. Additionally, the event featured a new initiative, "Ohtani's Step Challenge," where students experienced the stride Ohtani uses when running between bases, eliciting gasps of amazement and excitement. FamilyMart, celebrating its 45th anniversary in September 2026, continues to support children and club activities nationwide under the new slogan "Challenge First," as part of its efforts to be a beloved community presence.
