Los Angeles Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani may only pitch in the game against the Miami Marlins on the 28th (29th Japan time), as a new option for his dual-role usage has emerged. The Dodgers are proceeding cautiously with Ohtani's deployment, and his next appearance is drawing attention. Noah Camras from the U.S. media outlet 'Sports Illustrated' mentioned this development. Ohtani is scheduled to start as a pitcher in the second night game of the series, but manager Dave Roberts revealed before the game that there is a possibility of excluding Ohtani from the lineup. Roberts stated, "We are considering it," and has not completely ruled out the option of focusing solely on pitching. The reason for concentrating on pitching is that this appearance comes after a shorter-than-usual five-day rest for Ohtani. The Dodgers have arranged this rotation to also give pitcher Tyler Glasnow five days of rest, and they are considering not using Ohtani as a batter to reduce his burden. Additionally, the Dodgers have a day game against the Marlins the following day, meaning they would face another game just about 14 hours after his pitching appearance. Therefore, they might want to avoid having him play as a two-way player and then as a batter the next day. Camras noted the attention on Ohtani's usage, stating, "There is a possibility he will be used as a two-way player on Tuesday and sit out on Wednesday. The Dodgers are currently considering all options ahead of the games against the Marlins.
